The classic safari may begin in Nairobi and lead toward the Maasai Mara. But Kenya becomes much larger when the journey continues — north toward Samburu and Lake Turkana, east toward Meru, south toward Amboseli and Tsavo, or to the Indian Ocean where Swahili history meets tropical beaches.

The final stretch
After crossing Kenya's savannahs, mountains and northern wilderness, the journey can descend toward the Indian Ocean.
Mombasa can become the transition between safari and beach. Diani can provide a slower final chapter. Watamu and Malindi bring together marine life, coastal forest and Swahili history. Lamu offers an entirely different rhythm — one shaped by dhow sails, narrow streets, old buildings and the ocean.
For international travellers, the coast can be the end of a Kenyan expedition, the beginning of one, or a gateway into a longer East African journey.
